The chief executive of Hong Kong, C.Y. Leung, told visiting Indonesian President Joko Widodo Monday that China's "One Belt, One Road" initiative will bring about enormous development potential for Hong Kong and Association of Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN), including Indonesia.

Leung made the remarks during a meeting with Widodo at Hong Kong's government house.

The Hong Kong government announced that Leung also told Widodo that Hong Kong will further enhance economic and trade relations with Indonesia and other major trading partners along the "One Belt, One Road" scheme.

In addition, Leung briefed the Indonesian president on the latest developments in Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, the two leaders witnessed the signing of two agreements between the Hong Kong and Indonesian governments. The agreements -- a memorandum of understanding on cultural co-operation, as well as a joint statement on labour co-operation -- were signed.

Widodo arrived in the territory for a two-day visit a day earlier, amid tight security.
